OneLogin offers multiple ways (or factors) to securely log into your UC account. The Protect app is another option to confirm your identity. This process does require having a modern smartphone such as an iPhone or Android phone.


OneLogin Protect is the recommended authentication factor for University of the Cumberlands users. 


Downloading and Preparing the App


  1. On your phone, download the app OR go to your App Store on your phone and search for “OneLogin Protect”. The app should look like this:

    WARNING: This should not be confused with the similarly named OneLogin Portal app.

  2. Open the app

  3. Tap the + in the upper right corner:



    Your app is now ready to scan the code from OneLogin.



Adding the App Factor to your Account


The following steps should be done on a desktop or laptop computer using a full browser such as Chrome. 


If you are being prompted to set up your authentication factors for the first time, you can skip to step 3. 


  1. Go to your UC OneLogin Security Factors

  2. Click the “Add Factor” button

  3. Select the  “OneLogin Protect” factor



  4. Click “Activate”

  5. A “OneLogin Protect” window will pop up:




    NOTE: You MUST have a passcode or some type of security lock on your phone to continue. If you need help with setting a passcode or security lock, please let us know.

    You will be asked to allow notifications. We would suggest you turn them on by clicking 'Allow'. 

    You will also be asked to allow access to your camera, which is required to scan the QR code.  Click 'OK' when prompted.

  6. Using your phone, scan the code:



  7. A green checkmark will be displayed when your scan is successful:



  8. To set OneLogin Protect as your preferred authentication factor, go to your UC OneLogin Security Factors page > hover over and click ⋮ in the OneLogin Protect row and select “Set as primary”:




Log in with the OneLogin Protect App


Whenever you log in on a computer, tablet, or phone, and the Protect app is your primary security factor, your phone will push an alert. Be sure to allow notifications for this app!



Tap ✔︎Accept and you will be completely logged in.
