Google AI Workspace: Data Transfer Instructions

Performing the Data Transfer:

  1. Login to UCLogin at www.ucumberlands.edu/uclogin and select the Google Workspace app
  2. Verify by clicking ‘Next’ and selecting ‘Personal Google account’. If you do not select the personal Google account, it will not be accessible. You will be prompted to enter the personal account password. Note that this was set by you:





  3. Click on the profile icon in the top-right corner and select the personal temp account in the drop-down menu:





  4. From the Workspace home screen, click on 'Data & Privacy' on the left side of the screen:


  5. Scroll to the bottom of the screen, and click on 'Download your data' - You may have to re-verify that it is you making the request. Click next, and choose 'Personal Google account' if prompted:


  6. In Google Takeout, you have the ability to choose the data you would like to export. This step is completely up to you on how you handle it. For example, if you would like to export everything from the account, click 'Deselect all', then 'Select all'. If you want to export specific data, you can start by using 'Deselect all' and selecting the data that is relevant to you:



  7. In Google Takeout, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on 'Next step':



  8. Create the export of the data. This can be done by leaving the default settings in place. If your account has over 2GB of data, it will be delivered to you in multiple file exports. The email will be sent to your UC email account:





  9. Once you have received the email, click the link in the email and download the file(s). Note this may look different from what is pictured. Size will depend on the size of the backup.





    The files are downloaded as a zip file. You will need to extract the files to a local or cloud location to access them.
