OneDrive is Microsoft's cloud storage service that allows you to store, access, and share files from anywhere. In the educational context, OneDrive integrates with Blackboard to provide seamless file management and collaboration capabilities. Faculty can store course materials and share resources with students —all while maintaining the security and organization of their Blackboard course.
Important note: Files shared using the options below are "read-only" for students. Students can download a copy. Any edits made by students will not be visible in OneDrive. See the Microsoft Education Cloud Collaboration article for instructions for additional file collaboration options.
Option 1: OneDrive File Links
The steps below detail how to share OneDrive files with your students directly in your iLearn course. These are links to active OneDrive files that can be shared across course sections. When OneDrive file links are shared using the steps below, any updates the instructor makes to the files in OneDrive will be visible when accessing the files via the links in the course.
- On the Content page of your course, select Microsoft Education, then select OneDrive. Note: If Microsoft Education is not on your Content page, review the setup instructions.
- Browse and find the file you wish to share with your class, then select it.
- Select Copy link.
- Exit Microsoft Education and go back into your course.
- Navigate to the content area where you want the file.
- Click (+) add > Create > Link and paste in the URL.
Option 2: Embedded Cloud Document
The steps below detail how to embed a copy of a OneDrive file into your iLearn course. These embedded files are a copy of the original files. Any edits made by the instructor to a file after it is embedded will not be reflected in the original OneDrive file.
- Decide where you would like to embed the document on the Content page, click the (+) add button, and select Create.
- Select Embedded Cloud Document from the pane.
- This might prompt you to log in. Select your user account and proceed to sign in.
- Navigate and select the file(s) that you like to add.
- The document will be presented inline in Blackboard.
- Instructors have the option to edit the document.
